Global real estate advisor, CBRE has today announced the appointment of Graeme Rutter as Executive Director and Head of Investment Advisory, part of CBRE Capital Advisors.

Rutter is joining CBRE from Schroder Real Estate Investment Management where he was head of its Real Estate Capital Partners division. In his role he was responsible for more than £4bn of Assets Under Management (£1bn of this in partnership strategies), representing over 20 segregated client accounts, four fund vehicles and ten partnership strategies. Prior to Schroder, where he has been for the last 13 years, he was at Aviva and Savills.

Additionally, Graeme holds a number of Non-Executive roles; he is the Chairman of Investment Property Forum (IPF), Former Chair of the Association of Real Estate Funds (AREF) Investor Committee and a former AREF Management Committee member, Chair of the IPF Indirect Property Funds Group and a member of MSCI Index Consultative Group.

Graeme will report into Richard Dakin, Managing Director and Global Head of Capital Advisors. He will succeed Tony Martin in the role, who will take on a new position as Chairman of CBRE’s Investment Advisory team.

CBRE has a team of 35 people providing independent Investment Advisory services to institutional, public and private sector, financial and property company clients. The team partners with clients over the longer term to invest and deploy their capital through direct and indirect strategies, including lending. Graeme’s appointment will further strengthen the team’s ability to provide this advice to both public and private sector clients particularly on asset investment and fund creation.

CBRE’s Investment Advisory team currently has over £2.3bn of assets under advice and has advised on more than £1bn of lending. Additionally, the team manages a number of regional impact funds, including the pioneering North West Evergreen Fund, which together have enabled the development of 8.5m sq ft of commercial real estate in the past nine years.
