CBRE hires Public Sector stalwart Simon Tanner

Global real estate advisor CBRE has announced the appointment of Simon Tanner who joins the firm as a Senior Director in the Strategic Advisory team, with a focus on the public sector.

Simon’s pedigree includes having worked with GT Real Estate Advisory Team and in Corporate Finance at PwC.

He most recently held the position of Head of Commercial for the Government of Jersey; helping shape the transformation of the Commercial Services Directorate. His diverse portfolio includes working with Sport England to develop a Covid relief scheme for the public leisure centre sector, advising the Ministry of Justice on its Prison Estates Transformation Programme and delivering a volumetric housing project for YMCA London and South West.

Having helped set up many of the leading PFI deals, at CBRE he will have a specific focus on developing the public sector business, including helping local authorities and public sector bodies transition their expiring PFI’s, but also bringing his wider commercial experience to bear, to benefit both private and public sector clients.

In his extensive career, Simon has worked in a variety of influential policy and strategy roles on public sector projects, including the London Underground PPP and on secondment for eighteen months at the Department of Health’s Private Finance Unit, where he helped develop new approaches for introducing private sector finance into traditionally public sector models.

Simon Tanner comments: “I am really excited about working with the CBRE team and using my public sector experience both to deliver and build on the firm’s already impressive client base.”

Simon is a well-regarded industry expert, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in corporate finance and the public sector. His experience will be invaluable at a time when we are building new and existing relationships with the public sector.
