CBRE makes another senior hire in Real Estate Investment Banking team with the appointment of Tariq Hayat

CBRE Capital Advisors has appointed Tariq Hayat as a Senior Director in its Real Estate Investment Banking team. This follows the recent appointment of Julian Allen from Citigroup as Head of Real Estate Investment Banking, EMEA.

Tariq joins from KPMG, where he has been a Director in the Real Estate Corporate Finance team in London since 2016 and has played a crucial role in building and leading the team. Prior to that he was an Assistant Director in The Shareholder Executive (now UK Government Investments) as well as having held M&A and Corporate Finance roles at Lazard and BDO LLP. Tariq has a wealth of experience advising corporates, financial institutions and public sector bodies on operational real estate and real estate portfolio transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, equity raising, strategic advice and restructuring across a variety of real estate asset classes.

In his new role, Tariq will be responsible for originating and leading corporate finance transactions for CBRE’s Operational Real Estate (OPRE) business, working across the Hospitality, Healthcare, Senior Living, Education, Petroleum and Automotive, Self-Storage, Co-Living and Student Accommodation sectors to help service clients with their financing requirements.

CBRE’s OPRE platform unites specialist sector expertise across all operational asset classes, with in-depth financial capabilities, including debt origination, equity raising, M&A, financial modelling and loan servicing.

Tariq’s hire follows the appointment of Chris Gow and Stephen Barr in H2 2020, to lead Debt Advisory services for the Operational Real Estate business, as well as Joe Green who has brought hotel-specific restructuring expertise to the Real Estate Investment Banking team.

Richard Dakin, Managing Director of Capital Advisors, CBRE
We are delighted to welcome Tariq to the team. Capital allocations to operational assets have increased considerably over the last few years and Tariq’s appointment will further enhance our ability to provide our clients with comprehensive and sophisticated financial advice which complements the real estate expertise provide by our Operational Real Estate specialists. His strong track record will enable us to originate more transactions in these sectors where we see huge opportunity for growth.
