CBRE projects scoop five titles at the 2008 Office Development Awards

CBRE agency teams are recognized by the industry.

CBRE projects came first at the 2008 Office Development Awards, naming them ‘West End Development of the year’; ‘West End Deal of the Year’; ‘City Development of the Year’; ‘The Best Overall Development in Central London’ and ‘Deal of the Year - Outside Central London.’ CBRE acted as disposal agents for all of the developments.

The Crown Estate celebrated double success this year, winning both ‘West End Development of the Year’ and ‘Best Overall Development in Central London’ categories for One Vine Street, London.

Alex Brown, Director, West End Agency, CBRE, who is current Chairman of the West End OAS and part of the judging committee said, “The Judges felt that The Crown Estate came up with an innovative and exciting scheme at One Vine Street, considering the constraints of the site due to it’s shape and size. The amount of light and space getting into the centre of the building, coupled with its very green credentials, were impressive enough to attract even the most pedantic of tenants and therefore a clear winner of the ‘West End Development of the Year’ title.

For the ‘Best Overall Development in Central London award’, the judges were torn between the contemporary design and green credentials of The Crown Estate's development at One Vine Street, and the invigorating impact that New Street Square has had on the Midtown market.

“On balance, One Vine Street was chosen as the overall London winner in this category, reflecting the skills of the developer in working with a difficult site to create a truly outstanding development," said Alex Brown.

Land Securities’ New Street Square went on to win the ‘City Development of the Year’ category. CBRE also acted as agent for developer Ballymore on Two Snowhill, Birmingham, which was named ‘Deal of the Year - Outside London.’

The title of ‘West End Deal of the Year’ was awarded to Development Securities for One Kingdom Street in Paddington, London. “A secured pre-let at One Kingdom Street, Paddington of 74,000 sq. ft to Misys Plc represented one of the West End’s largest pre-letting deals in 2007. This coupled with the confirmation of a further pre-let of 91,000 sq ft with Vodafone helped the judges to decide that Development Securities, together with Morley Fund Management and Union Investment had made the speculative development a success. New rental levels were also subsequently set for the area. A great result”, said Alex Brown.
