Retail sales growth slows

Retail sales saw marginal growth of 0.2% in June, with rises recorded in all sectors, with the exception of food outlets and non-store retailing and repair – which includes internet retailing. The underlying trend in sales growth has slowed but remains robust. Sales in the three months to June up 3.8% compared with a year earlier. Interest rates rose to 5.75% earlier this month on the back of recent increases in the Consumer Prices Index. The CPI was 2.4% last month, down from 2.5% in May.
