CBRE appoints former BlackRock Head of Global Real Estate as Chair of Strategic Investment Advisory Board
Marcus Sperber, former Head of Global Real Estate at BlackRock, will join CBRE in June as a consultant and Chair of the newly created Strategic Investment Advisory Board within Investment Advisory, led by Graeme Rutter and part of Capital Advisors.
Marcus has over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. Following a 17-year career with BlackRock, he most recently founded NorthCroft Capital, a real estate investment and advisory business, and holds a number of Non-Executive roles. Additionally, he has held positions on a number of industry committees
CBRE’s Strategic Investment Advisory Board, formerly known as the Investment Advisory Committee, will provide governance across all Investment Advisory client mandates to review strategy, investment performance and ensure consistency across its client accounts. The group will meet on a quarterly basis.
CBRE’s 38-strong Investment Advisory team, which provides Commercial, Residential, Lending and Indirect investment services, partners with clients over the long-term, often through retained mandates, combining real estate and financial advisory capabilities. The multi-disciplinary approach to real estate investment, allows Investment Advisory clients to access the most attractive risk adjusted returns through a market cycle.
As well as advising on a number of large pension fund, charity and local authority portfolios, the team manages many of the UK’s largest local impact lending mandates, including the North West Evergreen Fund, SCR Jessica, the Northern Ireland Investment Fund and the South Yorkshire Pension Fund. Over the last 10 years these local impact strategies have created circa 9.5m sq ft of employment space, regenerating 105 hectares of brownfield sites and have created c.38,000 new jobs
