CBRE Appoints New Centre Director at thecentre:mk

CBRE, the global real estate advisor, has today announced the appointment of James Waugh to its Retail Management team as the new Centre Director at thecentre:mk,
Hermes Real Estate Investment Management Limited’s (HREIML) flagship retail and leisure destination.

James joins from Savills, where he was manager of Woking Shopping, and has previously held senior management positions at a number of leading retail and leisure destinations, including Bluewater and Gunwharf Quays.

Commenting on James’ appointment, John Prestwich, Senior Director of Retail Management at CBRE, said: “James Waugh’s experience in retail management makes him an excellent candidate to lead the team at thecentre:mk. With the addition of new brands, a renewed focus on growing thecentre:mk’s regional dominance, combined with an emphasis on working very closely with local stakeholders, it is vital thecentre:mk has strong leadership.”

James Waugh, newly appointed Centre Director at thecentre:mk, added: “Thecentre:mk has a very strong reputation and a real sense of momentum. This is a great opportunity, therefore, to build on what has already been achieved in repositioning thecentre:mk as the dominant retail and leisure destination in the region, as well as one of the most successful in the UK. I look forward to working closely with the existing team to fulfill these objectives.”

James begins his new role on December 3 and his appointment follows the recent announcement that 11,000 sq ft of new brands are to open at thecentre:mk, including Byron, Tempur and Dr Martens. In addition, HREIML appointed a new leasing agent team this autumn, consisting of CBRE, MMX Retail and Lunson Mitchenall, to attract more leading UK and international brands to the centre.
