CBRE’s flagship London headquarters achieves BREEAM Excellent rating

Henrietta House in top 10% of projects in the UK

CBRE has announced that its London headquarters, Henrietta House, has achieved one of the highest sustainability ratings following the completion of its recent refurbishment and extension.

Henrietta House has been awarded the BREEAM Excellent rating following work undertaken to the site, achieved with the collaboration and support of Landlord Lazari, Architect and Designers MoreySmith and the project BREEAM Assessor TB+A. This involved two separate certifications, one for the refurbishment of the original building and a second for the new extension known as ‘The Cube’.

The BREEAM assessment process also made the most of synergies with the WELL Building Standard strategies applied to Henrietta House to provide an integrated approach towards environmental and social sustainability.

The achievement of BREEAM for Henrietta House falls within CBRE’s ESG commitments to Planet, People, Practices, with over half the buildings occupied in the UK now holding a green certification.

BREEAM is the most widely used sustainability certification in the UK. Its requirements measure the environmental performance of a building under construction or undergoing refurbishment by assessing factors such as materials, waste, energy and water.

According to the BRE, which is the custodian of BREEAM, achieving BREEAM Excellent positions an asset at the top 10% of UK projects, demonstrating best practice within the built environment industry.

The assessment of Henrietta House under a transparent methodology such as BREEAM brought together landlord and occupier to deliver a best-in-class project. Thanks to this collaboration, the building now offers a dynamic and more sustainable office environment that matches our culture, commitments and ways of working.

Henrietta House refurbishment and extension is a stellar example of aligning BREEAM and WELL strategies to future proof and create a valuable asset for both the client and occupants. Despite the planning condition requiring only BREEAM ‘V. Good’ rating; we were able to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating – driven by CBRE’s ESG commitments and a sustainability focused project team.
