Irish fashion chain Primark opens first store in Holland

On Monday 1 December 2008 the Irish fashion chain Primark opened its first store in Holland in Rotterdam’s Alexandrium shopping centre.

The store, located at Poolsterplein 100, covers a surface area of 3500 m2. Primark the fashion chain opened its doors for the first time in Dublin back in 1969. Today Primark - in Ireland the formula is called Penneys - counts 177 stores. The retailer that mainly operates in Ireland, Britain and Spain plans to open more stores on the European continent.

The retail property is managed by the Hague investment company Urban Interest. Primark likes to present itself as a chain providing affordable fashion somewhere between Swedish H&M and Spanish Zara. In Britain it is the largest clothing retailer moving closer to overtaking the well-established Marks & Spencer. CB Richard Ellis advised the retail chain during the leasing transaction.
