Newsweek Ranks CB Richard Ellis Group, Inc. #30 Among Top 500 Greenest US Companies

Los Angeles / London – October 21, 2010 – Newsweek, a leading U.S. weekly news magazine, has ranked CB Richard Ellis Group, Inc. (NYSE:CBG) #30 out of 500 companies on its 2010 Green Rankings. CB Richard Ellis was also the highest ranked company in the financial services sector.

The Newsweek list, featured in the publication’s October 18, 2010 issue, measures the environmental performance of the 500 largest U.S.-based publicly traded companies. The ranking is based on each company's actual resource use and emission levels, its environmental policies and strategies, and its reputation among its peers. CB Richard Ellis’ overall ranking improved markedly from 2009, when it was ranked #45.

“The Newsweek ranking is another endorsement of our corporate commitment to sustainability,” said Brett White, chief executive officer of CB Richard Ellis. “This achievement underscores for our clients – many of whom are also on Newsweek’s list – that CB Richard Ellis offers the industry’s most comprehensive, integrated sustainability service platform. As the largest manager of commercial space globally, CB Richard Ellis is uniquely positioned to help our clients lower energy consumption, enhance efficiencies and reduce their environmental impact.”

Newsweek collaborated with three research partners to compile the rankings – MSCI ESG Research, Trucost and CorporateRegister.com – and also referenced data provided by the Carbon Disclosure Project, which collects global greenhouse gas data on over 3,000 companies worldwide. CBRE has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project since 2007. Newsweek’s editorial partner in the ranking was ASAP Media.

Mark Creamer, Executive Director, CB Richard Ellis, said: “Newsweek’s commendation is testament to CBRE’s holistic approach to the environmental performance of buildings. In addition, across Europe, we have succeeded in a number of local office initiatives. In the UK, CBRE has been accredited with the internationally recognised ISO 14001 environmental management standard for all offices, and in Spain, we received the first Gold award in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in Europe. Our strides to make our own facilities greener echo the advice we give to clients to achieve cost effective, energy efficient buildings.”

In 2007 CB Richard Ellis became the first commercial real estate services company to announce a commitment to become carbon neutral in its own operations. In addition, CB Richard Ellis is assisting property owners and occupiers with energy efficiency programs at building space it manages around the world. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has named CB Richard Ellis an ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for the past three years, including recent recognition for Sustained Excellence. The U.S. Green Building Council has awarded CB Richard Ellis its Leadership Award for Organizational Excellence and the industry group, CoreNet, recognized CB Richard Ellis with a special commendation for Sustainable Leadership and Design Development.
