Rapid increase of hotel beds in Amsterdam

The main event in Amsterdam, since half a year ago, has been the rapid increase of hotel beds in the city.

This is mostly being done by reconverting empty office space into hotels. Particularly along the western ring road a number of new hotels has been and will be created in this fashion, but also the inner city is now witnessing a clear increase in, particularly high-end, hotels.

A number of notable luxury brands have opened here recently, or will do so shortly, such as the Mint Hotel near the Central Station (taken over by Hilton, owner Blackstone), the Conservatorium Hotel in the Museum District, an Andaz in the
former library at Prinsengracht and a Waldorf Astoria at Herengracht.
